Both babies have been taken off the caffeine now since their apnea has improved... they have to go 5 full days with no lapses before they can go home. They are still having one or two on occasion in a 24 hour period but it is still to be expected for their age so the nurses are not concerned at all.
Linley is now doing 3 feedings (2 bottles) and Caden is up to 4 feedings, or every other feeding (3 bottles). They have to be doing all 8 feedings without the feeding tube before they get to go home. Linley does great with pacing herself when taking the bottle but she only finishes it when she feels like working for her lunch. Caden on the other hand does great with finishing his full bottle but has a harder time pacing himself. He often forgets to breathe, the suck, swallow, breathe concept hasn't taken full effect!
Tomorrow they are 4 weeks old and on Wednesday they will be 36 weeks (gestational age). We hope to have them home at 37 to 38 weeks. Thanks for all the continued prayers, now we are just praying that they will completely stop their apnea spells and will continue to move quickly towards their 8 full feedings a day!
Oh, and we saw Linley put her thumb in her mouth for the first time (and hopefully the last). Apparently she was still hungry after she finished her bottle and when she couldn't find it or her binki she went for the thumb (see last picture)
