Growing, growing, growing...

Wow, so much has happened this week.  We took Caden to his first pediatrician appointment (we loved her)... he gained 7 oz in his first 5 days home!  He is now a whopping 6 lbs, 11 oz.  He and Linley feel so much heavier!  We almost have a 7 lb baby???  Shelley, Patia and I had a girls dinner Tuesday night and were discussing how crazy it would be if I had carried the babies to this week (39 weeks and 6 and 7 lbs).  No idea how 2 babies would have fit in my stomach at that weight but apparently it happens?

Linley pretty much looks the same to me, just a little bigger, but Caden is definitely changing and filling out.  He definitely takes after his dad, constantly changing year to year... if anyone has seen photos of Trip as a baby/child you know what I am talking about; he looks completely different in every picture.  They are both chubbing up, eating at least 3 oz every feeding now.

We finally secured a nanny for Caden and Linley, what a relief!  With the babies being preemies we were extremely concerned about putting them in daycare, especially during cold and flu season as they are at a higher risk of RSV due to their early entrance into the world.  It is a small world we live in though as we found her through a friend of mine.  I was researching nannies on line through the Plano Mothers of Multiples group and I found a listing for her.  Her previous family was putting their 2 year old twins in daycare now that they are a bit older so she was interviewing for a new position.  I thought the mom's name looked familiar but I couldn't quite place it and after checking my facebook I realized that she was a sorority sister and my pledge trainer in college.  What amazing timing God has!

On another note, my dad, got here yesterday!  Yippee!  Mom has been here this week helping out, she has been amazing!  I have even been able to sleep a full 6 - 7 hours for the past 4 nights because she has been taking my 6 am feeding!  Sleep is so wonderful!

Below are some new pictures of Caden and Linley... hope you enjoy them as much as we have!

TWO BABIES at home...

Caden is finally home!  We brought him home on Wednesday much to the NICU nurses dismay!  We will miss them terribly but are so happy to have both our babies at home!

They are doing fantastic and are enjoying being home together (I believe).  They are both sleeping 4 hours at night in between feedings and 3 hours during the day... Trip and I are so blessed for the NICU schedule!  We have them sharing a crib in their own bedroom as they are typical noisy preemies... impossible to sleep with them in the same room.  We had to put a lamp/night light on in their room as well as background noise (thank goodness for MP3 players) as they are not used to sleeping in dark much less silence.  This does come in handy though as they can pretty much sleep through anything and do thanks to the NICU hussle and bussle.

Nothing too exciting going on, right now we are just working on getting them adjusted to the new surroundings and getting us adjusted to their feeding/sleeping schedule.  Amazing how quickly the day flies by when you are working in 3 hour intervals.

Thank you for all your continued prayers!

Linley is home... and more updates

Sorry for the delay in posting... we have had a big couple of days/week.

Linley is FINALLY home, we brought her home on Tuesday night weighing in at 5 lbs 7 oz, 2 lbs above her birth weight.  The first night was pretty rough, she is really LOUD!  She makes noises; she was grunting, squealing and cooing all night long and we didn't sleep a wink.  However, last night was much better, she slept in her own bed and Trip and I were able to get a couple hours of sleep in between feedings.

Caden was supposed to come home today, however, yesterday he had a couple Brady's and bought himself a couple more days in the NICU.  They did give us an option of bringing him home since he self recovered with them but after discussion with the neonatologist we decided to give him a couple more days.  We are so much more comfortable with him coming home after not having any episodes for several days than coming home after having one yesterday.  I would never sleep for fear he would stop breathing and we wouldn't see him.  So hopefully, he will have a great couple of days and be home on Saturday!  Please keep him in your prayers.

Below are some updated pictures from the last week or so...

Sharing a bed for the first time...

Look at my sweet babies spending lots of time together, see below!  Last night Linley & Caden got to sleep together for the first time!

We got the best news this morning, there is a chance that our precious twinkies will be heading home next week.  They are both doing better with their apnea spells and Caden has been moved to 5 bottle feedings a day and Linley 4 bottle feedings a day.  They also get to take a bottle after every breast feeding rather than a tube feeding which is great progress since it means they are big enough now to spend the energy to breast feed and bottle feed all in one sitting!  Looks like miss Linley is catching up to her brother in the weight department, she is 5 lbs 3 oz and he is 5 lbs 6 oz.  The nurse practitioner said she wouldn't be at all surprised to see them go home in the 7 - 10 days.

Friday and Sunday will be our first opportunities to bathe them, hopefully we will get pictures that you can see.
