Just because...

Miss Linley has had a couple rough nights recently with her acid reflux, unfortunately that also means mommy has had a couple rough nights as well!  I was up last night holding her straight up on my shoulder while she slept until her 2 am feeding... every time I tried to put her down she started screaming.  Poor thing, I can only imagine how bad her little throat burns.  We are trying a couple new things today in hopes that it will help her this evening, mylicon for gas and gripe water for her poor tummy.  Keep her in your prayers!

Just a couple of recent shots of the sweet babies...

Belated updates... we are 2 1/2 months old now!

Sorry for my terrible delay in updates, we have had a busy couple of weeks and very little sleep!

My aunts, Judi and Patti, came in to visit 2 weekends ago to see the babies.  We had a great time, although I think it might have been a somewhat boring trip for them compared to our previous Dallas girl's weekends.  Not a whole lot you can do with 2 month old twins, they definitely change the itinerary a bit.  We did enjoy our first dinner in a restaurant though, we have a new mexican food restaurant that opened down the street recently.  The babies did great and the food was fantastic!

We had our 2 month check up last week, the babies are doing fantastic.  So fantastic that the pediatrician choose to chart them on the regular baby growth charts rather than the preemie charts.  Caden and Linley are in the 3% range for their age and considering they were born 2 months early we will take it.  Linley's acid reflux is getting better now that we have her on medication (not quite as many fussy/sleepless nights as before) and she is now 7 lbs 4 oz and 19.5 inches long.  Caden is 8 lbs 10 oz and 21 inches long, he looks huge to me now!  Poor babies had to get their shots, thank goodness Aunt Kristin came to help out as I just know I would have had 2 screaming babies at the same time if not.  They are both progressing as should be expected for full term babies at 2 months with regard to their development.  They are able to hold their heads up for a significant period of time at a 30% - 45% degree incline; Linley is fantastic at it and Caden is doing great although his head is a little heavier as of recently so he can't hold it quite as high as Linley does.  They have now both rolled over, Caden choose to roll over for the first time on the pediatrician's exam table as she was commenting that he should be able to roll over soon... it was quite funny.  Linley rolled over for the first time this morning, twice, although I think it was more because she was pissed about doing tummy time than purposefully rolling over.

tragic they are doing so bad this season!

We had our first major round of sleepless nights this week and mommy was thrown up on twice, spit up on twice and peed on all in a 24 hour period - almost enough to make me want to go back to work but not quite.  Caden spent last Sunday night crying for 4 hours straight, every time I would get him to calm down, Linley would get upset.  So I ended up with a total of 2 hours of sleep for the night since I had to do the 6 am feeding in addition to the 2 am feeding as Trip had an early morning for work.  Monday night was more of the same and then Trip took the 2 am feeding on Tuesday night so between the 2 of us we rounded out those 3 days with roughly 2 - 4 hours of sleep each night.  It was pretty rough, luckily it didn't last too long.

They spent Thursday and Friday trying to out do one another in the bodily function department.  Thursday of last week Caden had his first projectile vomit, it was all over me, all over him and all over the floor.  Apparently Linley felt left out so at the 2 am feeding that night she decided to join the fun and I ended up bathing her in the bathroom sink in the middle of the night and throwing my clothes in the washing machine.  She then took the liberty of passing Caden up with 2 projectile spit ups on Friday morning and he evened the day out with peeing on me after he got his bath and his brand new clothes on that afternoon.  It was lovely!  I was so happy for Trip to walk in the door that evening and even more happy for Emme's babysitting offer!  Trip and I went to dinner and left her with the twins... I am pretty sure she was extremely happy to see us when we got back as it was dinner time for the babies and they were happy to let her know!

Just catching up...

Just a little update, Trip and I had our first week alone with Linley and Caden... WOW this is a full time job!  They did really well, we only had one night that was super tough on us!  It is amazing how much they are growing and how quickly they are doing it!  I never realized how fast they change... they turned 2 months on Monday, so really they are now 0 months old!  It is strange to think that they are 2 months old and still only 6 and 7 lbs... not to mention that they will still go through all of their developmental stages according to their adjusted age rather than their real age for the next year!

Trip and I have finally figure out the evening schedules, I take the middle of the night feeding and he takes the morning feeding; that way we both get at least a full 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep.  I assume this will continue to work well until I go back to work, at that point I am pretty sure we are going to have to reevaluate!
