Play gyms

Play gyms are amazing, what did our parents do with us before these magical toys?

Hi Mom, whatcha doin?

How best to attack this?

Whoa, I got it!

It's mine... straight into the mouth.

You just wait till you see what I can do with this rattle!

all tuckered out!

somehow we ran out of water in the back of the house
and I ended up in the sink... what kind of crap is this?
Thanks dad for those 30 minute showers!

December pictures...

What else have we been up to besides our first try at food?  Well, the babies growing well!  They had their 2nd round of RSV shots at the beginning of December and Little Miss Linley Grace was 11 lbs 1 oz, Caden was 13 lbs, 12 oz... I can't believe he is almost 3 lbs heavier than she is?!  They are laughing, smiling and giggling up a storm.  They love to play in the play gym, they are doing a great job of grabbing toys and pulling them down.  We put rattles on Caden's wrists the other day and as soon as he discovered he could make noises when he shook his arms he went to town.  It was such a hoot!  He has developed this funny throaty laugh that he does when something is really funny.  Miss Linley still does her sweet bashful smile but now has started squealing when she laughs.  She sounds like an orca, that or an old school radio looking for a frequency in use.

Our little Christmas presents

Look at these twinkies, they were matching!

How cute am I?
Matching, twice in one week!

Christmas card preview...

Our first meal...

So today we tried rice cereal for the first time... oh, so much fun!  Caden has woken up hungry in the middle of the night a couple of times in the last week so we think he hasn't been getting enough food during the day for his massive 14 lbs (Linley Grace is 11 lbs + a couple of ounces by the way)!  We tried increasing the amount of ounces per feeding but he refuses to take more than 6 at any given feeding.  So, on to food.  We were going to wait until 6 months (2 weeks away) but I spoke with the pediatrician and she said go ahead, so here we are.

Caden did really well, he figured out how to eat from the spoon, more like sucking from the spoon and by the end he was grabbing my hand and the spoon to help feed himself.  Linley Grace on the other hand, not as talented.  She hasn't quite gotten the hang of eating at this point... I think more of the cereal ended up on her bib than in her stomach.  She would try to swallow but instead of swallowing she ended up thrusting the cereal out of her mouth with her tongue.  Don't worry baby girl, you'll figure it out!

FYI... blame the lack of Linley feeding pictures on her daddy!

First bite, not sure I like this

Okay, maybe not so bad

hold on mom, let me help... how cute is my mohawk?

I got this thing!  I am a natural.

So much to be thankful for...

Last post for the night but not least, things to be thankful for...

  1. The amazing 2 babies that God chose to bless us with
  2. A healthy Linley and a healthy Caden; we could be in such a different place if it wasn't for Gods grace and healing hands
  3. The time it took for them to arrive, it has given us a whole new perspective and appreciation for them
  4. A wonderful husband and the amazing hands-on dad we always knew he would be
  5. Friends and family whose support never ceases to amaze us
  6. Family... lots of hands to help feed babies during holidays!
Austin was fantastic; time to get away from our day to day, time to see friends and family, time to enjoy good food, great wine and better company.

What I am most thankful for...
