We are so close...

To walking!  I can't believe it... they are both standing up on their own and pushing the toy cars all by themselves.  I can just see Linley thinking about taking a step every time she stands on her own... those wheels are turning!  I can't believe we are about to have Toddlers!  It goes so fast.

Caden pushing his car.

Linley clapping and playing "peek-a-boo".

Cabo 2011

Just thought I would share a few fun pics from our trip to Cabo 3 weeks ago with our dear friends the Simdons and the Bachmans.  We had a fantastic time, it was just the right amount of days... we were all very happy to come home by day 5.  We stayed at this amazing hotel on the pacific side of Cabo, the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica.  It was beautiful and the food was great!  I don't think it was supposed to be a "party" hotel but we met a group of people from Marshall, TX and turned it in to one.

there is always at least one of these... Chris, you are
so cute!

We are one!!!!

I can't believe it is already come and gone, the twins turned 1on July 6th!  It is truly amazing how quickly the time has flown by... 1 year ago we were in the NICU watching our early birds grow and now they are healthy 1 year olds.  Linley Grace is weighing in at 17.3 lbs (5th percentile), and 27 3/4" (10th percentile) while Caden measured 19.6 lbs (10th percentile) and 28" (10th percentile).  They are semi eating table food... Linley will eat anything you put in front of her and Caden will eat some of what you put in front of him if he feels like it.  We still eat a little bit of baby food and we are drinking 50/50 whole milk and formula... Linley Grace thought she liked the whole milk for 2 days and then changed her mind so we had to move to the 50/50... soon we will try the 75/25 and then hopefully we will be on to 100% whole milk.  Such big kids!  They are also amazing furniture cruisers... Linley is even trying her hand at standing on her own.

Caden LOVES his daddy... much to the dismay of all others in the room who he refuses to be held by if daddy is around.  Thank goodness Trip is gone in the mornings or Caden would never come see me.  Linley Grace on the other hand is definitely a mommy's girl... thank goodness one of them is on my side!

We had a first birthday celebration the following weekend with family and a few close friends.  We had a great time, amazing how much entertainment can come from a few blow up pools in the back yard.

4th of July Preview...

This 4th of July was a whirlwind... I couldn't help but think back to last year when I enjoyed the fireworks from my hospital room and Trip and I feasted on hamburgers, tator tots and chocolate cake for our July 4th dinner.

This year, I took the kiddos to Conroe on Saturday with Kristin and Preston (leaving poor Trip behind on call) to enjoy a couple days at Therese and Darrell's lake house.  We had a fantastic time hanging out at the pool with everyone, Caden and Linley love the water.  Then on Sunday, I drove back to Dallas just in time to make it for dinner and the Kaboom town fireworks.  On Monday we lounged around the house and then headed back over to Nancy and Mike's house for the Prestonwood fireworks on Monday night... it went by so fast.  Here are some shots from this weekend.

How perfect is that smile!

June Babies... 11 months

I can't believe it, Linley Grace and Caden are going to be 1 in 10 days.  In the last week I have had 2 people tell me "the days are long but the years go by fast."  It is so true, there are definitely some long days but it goes by so fast and now all of the sudden they are turning 1.  I feel like they were just in NICU and that was almost a year ago.

I don't have their year update just yet but we did go to the developmental doctor last week and found out that developmentally they are getting closer to their real age.  They are doing everything they should be doing for 10 months and somethings they should be doing at 11 months.  The doctor thought that their 18 month check up may be the last we have to go to because they will probably be completely caught up at that point.  They are crawling, pulling up on furniture, furniture crawling (holding on to the furniture and side stepping around it), they pick up cheerios with their fingers, and are eating finger foods in addition to their baby food and formula.

Linley Grace is a rockstar when it comes to eating "real" food, yesterday she had whole wheat pasta, peas, corn and cheddar cheese for lunch... then she didn't take much of her bottle because she was already full.  Caden' on the other hand, not so much.  He doesn't even want to try it, he only wants baby food... go figure.  I do believe we are going to have a problem with him.  I ended up putting a couple puffs on his tray hoping it would get him started and then he would move on to some of the other options, nope, he picked through all of the food looking for the puffs and left everything else.  On occasion he will eat a couple pieces of banana, peaches, avocado and chicken nuggets but nothing near enough to fill him up.  He just starts shaking his head no and refuses to eat anything else until I give him baby food or his bottle.  I can see it now, Linley is going to be eating all grown up food and Caden will still be taking a bottle.

Stay tuned for our adventures in "big people" food...

Caden had a rough day and only wanted daddy...
he must have known it was father's day.

Already intrigued by the phone and iPad, I am
sure he will know more than us soon.
Oh, my little Linley Grace

Dad's 60th birthday

Wow, I am way behind.  Here are a couple of pictures from our weekend in Austin for my dad's 60th surprise party.  He was definitely surprised, the shock on his face was priceless... wish I got a shot of it.

A quick update...

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted, I have been slammed this past month with work... way too many work hours and not enough me hours.  I can't believe that 1 year ago today I was put on bed rest...

The dreaded sonogram...

My first night it the hospital before my 4
weeks of bed rest.

The babies are 11 months old now! Not sure how much they weigh, but they are big!  They are crawling (Linley on all fours) and they are both pulling up on furniture.  Last night, Linley pulled herself up in the crib so she could see the aquarium and then bang on the crib sides.  Going to need to reconsider the bumpers.

They each have 4 teeth, 2 top, 2 bottom and are starting to eat finger foods.  Nothing too big, just bananas, mum mums, avocados and yogurt melts.  And, we are brushing our teeth now, which they seem to like but Linley tends to bite, ouch!

We also made our first trip to the pool last weekend. Day 1, Caden was good in the water but very clingy, Linley Grace had a blast splashing around in the water.  Day 2, Caden LOVED the water, he splashed and kicked and jumped... it was so cute.
