A lot has happened this past month, we took a trip to Houston at the beginning of January for a funeral. Trip's second mom, Hauck's mom, passed away on New Years Day after a long battle with Leukemia. Mary Lynn was such an amazing woman and we were so blessed to know her. It was a hard time for Trip and his life long friends from Houston; they were all family to one another and never drifted apart from the tight knit group they were growing up. We will miss her tremendously.
The babies had their 6 month appointment, yes, that is what I said, 6 months! Wow, time has flown by. Caden and Linley are moving up on the scales Linley's weighed in at 12 lbs 9 oz (the 3rd percentile) and 24 1/4" in length (the 5th percentile) and Caden came in at 15 lbs 3 oz (the 12th percentile) and 25 1/2" in length (the 20th percentile). They are still toward the bottom half of the charts but remember that their measurements are not being adjusted for prematurity so they are doing amazing! Especially when you consider where they have been... slowly creeping up the charts! Caden is now over 16 lbs and Linley is over 13 1/2 lbs.

Linley always has her feet like this. |

Practicing for dance a little early. |
 |
Caden has learned how to take his passy out of his mouth,
move it from hand to hand, chew on it, and then put it
back in the right way. He also searches it out in his crib.
Oh and he has a MOHAWK now, I told it is was fine for
now but when he is in his teens we are going to have
to have a talk about it! |
 |
Look at his chunky little feet! That is when you know
they are gaining weight! |
 |
Just in case you didn't see my mohawk! |
They have also started eating baby food... veggies here we come. They have gone through sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, green beans and peas; we just started on avocado today. They both seem to like everything, although Linley was not in love with the green beans. Caden is hysterical though, he makes the same shocked, disgusted face every time he takes his first bite; it is a "what the heck did you just put in my mouth" face. Doesn't matter what it is and how many times he has tried it, he still makes the same face. Then it is off to the races. Linley has this funny habit of whining/grunting every time she wants a new bite; watch out if you are feeding her something she really likes, you can't get the food on the spoon fast enough and she starts making whiney noises.

This is my face I make every time I get
the first bite. |

I made a mess! |
Last but not least, Trip turned 36 this month! Yep, he is now closer to 40 than he is 30. I surprised him with a trip to Fredericksburg sans kiddos. We stopped off in Austin on Friday night and had dinner with our friends Aaron and Amy at Eddie V's, then we left the babies with my mom and dad and headed to Fredericksburg on Saturday morning. I had one more surprise up my sleeve for our little trip, we casually ran into Byron and Sherry in a coffee shop on Main street after our arrival. So basically, our casual, lazy trip to Fredericksburg turned into anything but after Byron and Trip came together. I won't even tell you what Sherry did at the end of the night as we were walking back to our B and B after dancing at one of the local bars.
